MY SUITOR

(LP)
(LP, 180 gr) Berntholer was, for sure, one of the most intriguing Belgian bands from the early 80s. This album compiles their best tracks from their official releases and a selection of demos, including the never-before-released “Heartbeat,” for the first time on vinyl.

MY SUITOR
vinyl Album or track playing
Founded in October 1981 by Drita Kotaji (vocals), Simon Rigot (guitar/synth), Manu Poutte (synth/guitar), and Pol Fourmois (bass). Pierre Sorvil joined the band in 1984 as their drummer. After a first single (“Japanese Garden”) in 1982, the band released the classic single “My Suitor” in 1983, followed by an extended 12-inch version in 1984, arranged by Wim Mertens (Soft Verdict). The song was championed by John Peel on BBC Radio 1 and became a real cult hit in Europe.

Berntholer disbanded on April 30th, 1985. Although their career was short and their back catalog limited, it is still worth rediscovering their subtle new wave sound and beautiful songs, which have aged gracefully. This album compiles their best tracks from their official releases and a selection of demos, including the never-before-released “Heartbeat,” for the first time on vinyl.
