TLP aka Troubleman 4™55 INFO: The Belgian house duo Swirl People (Dimitri Dewever & Raoul Belmans) is back with a follow up to their highly acclaimed albums ˜Special Combo™ (Aroma, 2004) and ˜Hi Mom Lets Dance™ (2002). Their new album ˜Swirl It Up™ was definitely worth the wait as critics already named it undoubtedly their best album to date, because of it bringing a fresh breath into house music. For those not familiar yet with Swirl People, they were formed almost 10 years ago and subsequently became one of Belgium™s foremost deep and funky house projects, with tons of records under their belt for labels such as Seasons, Amenti, Oomph, Music For Freaks and Black Cherry under different monikers (Swirl Peepz, Cozy Creatures, Different Noodles and Tiger Sprouts), not to mention all the remix projects they™ve been involved with. Dimitri Dewever aka Deviate has been producing since a very young age, resulting into an impressive discography with hundreds of releases and co-productions on several labels. The globetrotter half of Swirl People is Raoul Belmans who used to be a resident at Belgium™s legendary deep house club Food for 9 years and is currently worldwide renowned for his exquisite deejay sets. He literally tours about 5 months a year which makes him by far the most booked Belgian deejay in the world. He™s a regular in places like Australia, New Zeeland, Japan, South Africa and the US not to mention all the European countries he played. In between all this travel action he™s also running the infamous Aroma imprint and hosts a weekly show on Belgian national radio Studio Brussel called Switch: house. This brings us neatly to the sweet smell of ˜Swirl It Up™, taking off with the first single šWhen I Think Of You› featuring the world famous ˜jack-star™ DJ Heather on vocals. Derrick Carter also remixed this tune but it was the original version that got playlisted for about 3 months on Belgian national radio stations Studio Brussel and FM Brussel, getting the sing-along treatment on many dance floors. Newcomer in the scene is Parisian Blanche Neige doing the vocals on the swingy šYou™re A Star›, followed up by the Latin infused šTo The Restaurant›, which will teach you a few handy words of Spanish when you go out for dinner! Killer bass line track šLike To Boogie› is smoothly followed by šRide The Pony› or the ˜horse track™ as some people already call this. šPlay Along› already saw the light on vinyl 2 years ago but couldn™t be left out and šThe Greatest Time› is a big club favourite of many deejays and never disappoints on the floor, people just go nuts when they hear this! Than we have the 2nd single š(I™ll Be A) Freak For You› with the sweet vocals of Vancouver™s own Ingrid Hakanson, followed up by another eighties influenced funky stomper and album title track šSwirl It Up›. Jazzy bass heavy šHot ˜N™ Stuffy› interludes the second Ingrid Hakanson vocal track called šLuscious› which can be best described as deep house anno 2007. And lastly Swirl People 1997 hit šWotcha Gonna Do› got hip-house-fied by Belgian™s most famous selecta TLP aka Troubleman (Culture Club resident), which concludes Swirl People™s third and most danceable album to date! www.swirlpeople.com Feedback: Olivier Desmet (Amenti Music / Primal Records): the album is really taking the swirly sound to a new level i think... Kenton Slash Demon: we play The greatest time & HOT ™N™ STUFFY! With great diversity and multiple jackers the Swirl People take you through their amazing funk universe. Yeah we luv the Swirl funk! DJ Mes: Raoul and Dmitri have done it again!!! što The Restaurant› and šThe greatest time› are my two favorites on the dance floor followed by Swirl it up. Wicked album all around and its finally out!!! Swirl Peep™z can do NO wrong :-) Lawnchair Generals: Swirl It Up is a stormer! Love it! Kai (Solid Tokyo): I got the promo, thanks a lot!! I play Ride the pony, Like to boogie, To the restaurant and Swirl it up. Great productions! All of the tracks are recorded with clear and super hi-quality fat bass sounds. I love the wicked bassline and jazzy cord from "Like to boogie", sense of humor and also great bassline from "Ride the pony"and "To the restaurant" sounds like future sound of deep house music "Like to boogie". Ride the pony is the great peaktime tune, I got the good reaction for this track and could see people smiling and dancing :-) Much respect!! Buscemi: i play TO THE RESTAURANT. I like the sunny funky latinesk housy aspect of the track. Ideal as a starter for a loooooong party in summer. Also suitable at the end.
