"Koala Disco is the musical pseudonym of musician and illustrator Niels Tuijaerts. Although the music of this creative mammal is often labelled as post-punk and psychedelic rock, the band (Niels is the driving force, but Koala Disco is very much a band) describes itself more as Kafkaesque krautpunk. Koala Disco won Jonge Wolven 2024 and took the audience award at Humo’s Rock Rally in 2024.
On 6 November, Koala Disco will release their third album, *Marsupial Orgy*. For this third release, Koala Disco’s driving force, Niels Tuijaerts, pushed the boundaries of his own creativity and that of those around him. He opened the doors of his home studio to collaborations with well-known and lesser-known artists from our beloved Belgian music scene, to create a unique project.
Across 11 tracks, nine guest artists (including members of WASTE, TJE, Kaat Van Stralen, Lintworm and The Yummy Mouths) explore various genres alongside Niels. All the tracks were recorded at Niels’ studio and produced by him. The result is an original, hyper-creative musical extravaganza that veers off in different directions, yet is held together by Koala Disco’s core identity."
