BALL BLAZER Info: After his clusterbombs 'Elan', 'Advance' and of course 'Timecode' on the Cologne based Kompakt label, Eskimo is proud to welcome JUSTUS KÖHNCKE with his first release under the Division By Zero moniker. Both 'Boulderdash' and 'Ball Blazer' are two strong tracks in his own special style. This one is just bound to be a big record!! Prins Thomas: 10/10 both tracks are really good but my personal favourite and the one I'm gonna play all summer is "ball blazer",such a beautiful record. epic discoid business with just a hint of jackin' chicago. Eric Duncan (rub n tug): I LIKE! Serge (clone): like this, one side is very techno, very Underground Resistance. nice! Zak Frost: i really like boulderdash, great early evening club groove Nico de ceglia (a&r pete tong): Very good. I like both tracks here and I™ve been playing both. Bravo Justus! Shit Robot (DFA): both tracks are nice, but BOULDERDASH win's by a nose! Baby G (LSB): I like both tracks but prefere the Ball Blazer groove and electro deep house vibe also cos public love it!! Boulderdash is good too I like a lot the puk funk kind of bass and also have a great beats. Will be in my record bag probably all the summer! Tim Sweeney (beats in space): 8/10 Really enjoying Ball Blazer. Will definitely be playing this one on the radio show here in New York! DMC MIXMAG UPDATED REVIEW: Regularly praised in Update Justus Köhncke is a man who hardly ever disappoints. Here the ex-Whirlpool Productions heavyweight hooks up with Ghentøs Eskimo for a slice of gorgeous electronic discopop. ‘Boulderdashø is dreamy in a cosmic way (those pads) and funky enough to send you into rapture. Check the heavenly chord changes, this is proper feelgood music (122 BPM). On the flip ‘Ball Blazerø is a bass-led groove thatøs chunky and yet atmospheric. Musical stuff all the way. JERRY BOUTHIER FIVE TRAFFIC MAGAZINE REVIEW (by andy whittaker) Division By Zero Boulderdash/Ball Blazer This is Justus Kohnke under a new recording pseudonym for Eskimo Records. His Kompakt releases are rightly regarded as classics, but it™s great to see him explore his disco influences on Eskimo. Boulderdash would sit perfectly with label mates Reverso 68, it™s a unashamedly uplifting slice of bouncy electro disco, no doubt written with some voguing muscle Marys in mind, but no doubt more likely to be ignored by some po-faced Berliner minimal clones. Ball Blazer is probably the soundtrack for the synchronised swimming gold medal at the 2016 Olympics.
